  • Gas Safety Week

    Gas safety week starts on September 14th through till the 20th.

    So what is gas safety week all about?

    Gas Safety Week is a national safety campaign to raise awareness of gas safety in the UK's 23 million gas fuelled homes.

    It is co-ordinated by Gas Safe Register with support from the gas industry including retailers, manufacturers, consumer bodies and the public.

    Gas safety week is all about safety in the home, your office and any place that you use gas.

    So many people don’t realise how dangerous gas can be.

    Without regular check ups you could be putting your life at risk without knowing it.

    Throughout the United Kingdom around only 10% of people have their boiler serviced each year.

    Most people tend to leave their boiler till it breaks down,

    then they call the local gas safe plumber to have a boiler service thinking that is all it needs,

    but if it’s broken down then it broken for a reason and could be costly to repair. Its not just gas boilers that need to be checked,

    anything that produces a flame should be checked on a regular basis.

    Carbon monoxide is a silent killer and is produced when a flame is present,

    this is why it is very important to have a regular check up,

    be it gas, oil even a wood burner.

    Most people think carbon monoxide is only produced from gas and don’t realise that anything that burns produces carbon monoxide.

    One of the most important parts of any boiler is the flue pipe;

    it needs to be check for corrosion, because if it corroded it could leak carbon monoxide into the room it is located in.

    I have listed a few gas safety tips below from the
